Close up of painting by Adam Pendleton

Close up of one of many powerful works by artist Adam Pendleton on view at Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum in St. Louis, Missouri.

November was a month of many answered questions, reflections, and moments of inspiration.

One of the highlights of the month was going to St. Louis for 36 hours. It was nice to get away from the normalcy of daily life for a little bit!

It was my first time taking the train from Kansas City, and I’m instantly regretting not using the train more over the years.

Though it is a long train ride (6 hours), it is so inexpensive, so much more comfortable than flying, and way cheaper than driving! I got so much work done while I was sitting on the train!

Now I understand why I have heard of so many people doing a lot of amazing reflecting and writing on trains. It’s a completely different energy from working on an airplane or at an airport.

As I start to do my annual Year Compass and think of what I would like to do next year, “trips via train” need to be on the list — especially when the wifi is pretty good on them!

Here’s some things that caught my eye last week:

Some airline pilots carry plane trading cards — here's how to get one

I cannot believe I didn’t know about this — especially when I grew up listening to many members of my family talk about their aviation jobs!

My Aunties: Lessons in love during an epidemic.

December 1st was World AIDS Day. Story Corps shared this beautiful and powerful animation created from a story shared about growing up watching adult caretakers die from AIDS-related illnesses, which included his father.

Floating Activism

Thanks to other activists I follow online, I’ve been seeing all kinds of clever protest signs and banners. This is not the first time I have seen balloons be used as a protest tool.

you're my light

I love how French artist Agathe Sorlet beautifully expresses love and desire in such a simplistic elegant way.

Supporting Holiday Workers

Rachel Ignotofsky created this series of images to “support the workers that make the holiday season special!”
